I have a new e-book out today: High-Status Characters: How the Upright Citizens Brigade Stormed A City, Started A Scene, And Changed Comedy Forever. It costs $1.99, and all you need to start reading it on your smartphone or tablet is the Nook app, which is free, and ridiculously easy to use.

High-Status Characters started out a few years ago, as a New York magazine oral history. This new version is more than eight times longer than the original, and features interviews with nearly 80 of the UCB’s friends, fans, and performers, including Amy Poehler, Conan O’Brien, Ed Helms, Aziz Ansari, Aubrey Plaza, and Nick Kroll. I think it’s a must-read for comedy fans, but then again, I’m kind of biased.

This looks awesome, but I’m so sad this is basically unavailable for those of us in Australia. No chance of a blurb print run?

I agree that it looks like “a must-read for comedy fans,” but I don’t quite get why a Nook is must-buy for comedy fans. Anyone who wants to read your book (which I do) but who doesn’t have a Nook (which I don’t) and maybe doesn’t want a Nook (which I don’t), and doesn’t want to read it in a browser using Nook’s software (which I don’t), but instead wants to read it on a Kindle (which I do) has either to strip the Barnes & Noble DRM (OMG ILLEEGULLS) and reformat it for Kindle, or else wait until someone else does that & uploads it to the Web–in which case the author doesn’t get paid.
